When life is hectic, sad or stressful, rejoicing is not our normal reaction. When Paul tells the Philippian church that they should always rejoice, he shows how we can find peace in troubled times. Our confidence in Jesus’ victory, in his closeness and in his faithfulness, changes how we react to difficulty. We can cast our anxieties onto God and find peace in situations where peace seems impossible to others. As we learn to trust God with the things that make us anxious, we experience a peace that causes people to ask questions. “How can you have peace at a time like this?” Exhibiting peace in troubled times can be one of the best opportunities to share our experience of faith with those around us.
