When someone forgives us it can change us. When we realize how sinful we are, we also realize how patient and loving God is towards us. Paradoxically, our sin shows God’s grace.

The story of the prodigal son shows how God is loving and gracious. and how we, as religious people, often don’t share his enthusiasm for forgiveness. This is because we need to come to grips with our own sinfulness. This will help us see God’s grace, we can be messengers of God’s grace to the people around us.
